Instant compositions by Torque. Recorded in performance Study Gallery, Poole, 2006 and St. Aldhelm's church, Poole, 2007. Geoff Hearn - tenor and soprano saxophones, Steve Harris - drums, 'J'm Black - guitar and electronics.

This music is dedicated to the memory of my dear friend Steve Harris who sadly left us way too soon in 2008. We played some great original music together over the years but thankfully his inspiration lives on with recordings by his ground-breaking group Zaum and this short-lived trio Torque. All the pieces here are from two live perfomances and are totally improvised with no edits. I see them as small 'sonic abstract paintings' where each musical colour, shape and texture are put onto an invisible canvas by three like-minded musicians on a journey to create something unique!

My heartfelt thanks go to Adrian Newton who has done a truly exceptional job recording and re-mastering this original music and also for all his amazingly creative work with Zaum. - Geoff Hearn, Nov. 2018
